What is Circle Time at a Preschool in Chandler?

Circle time is something that happens on a daily basis in a lot of preschools in Chandler and elsewhere.  It isn't just a bunch of children sitting in a circle, however.  It is a very effective way to teach your children with the use of activities such as stories, songs, hands-on activities and more.
Circle time is an interactive area where children learn together.  How does it work?  It depends entirely upon how it has been set up.  A circle time area reflects both the needs and abilities of your children.

What Will Your Children Learn in Circle Time?

Circle time helps your children to grow, to develop in multiple areas, and it is an important part of our curriculum.  Take storytelling for example.  Storytelling is as old as humanity, and it often serves a deeper purpose.  Telling a story helps people to draw parallels with their own lives.  To a developing mind like a preschool age child, a story followed up with the right sort of question starts encouraging them to think.  During circle time, however, it isn't just about stories.  There are activities and games as well.  As your preschool in Chandler, we are firm believers in circle time.
Some of the activities in circle time are just pure fun.  Some of them, though, start teaching your children important concepts such as colors, shapes, and sizes.  One of the more important aspects of circle time, however, is the social aspect.  Socialization matters because it helps children to relate to each other.  This is a 'soft skill' that will help them in a lot of areas of their lives.  Circle time allows children to share their thoughts, as well as telling each other what they did during the weekend.   When children relate, they start forming bonds and friendships, as well as a sense of community.  Circle time helps children to develop their language skills.  How is this accomplished?  Simple, by having the teachers as well as the students talking to each other, not having the teacher "talk at" the children.
After all, circle time is supposed to be interactive.  A song or a story as well as the discussion that goes through it help children to start recognizing letters.  Rhyming a word helps a child to start developing his or her vocabulary as well as language.  There is a lot more that circle time can teach your children, which we will cover in the next part of this article.  For the moment, however, just know that circle time is more than just fun.  It is a important part of your child's education at a Chandler preschool.
